Tender notifications via RSS

  • Updated

On VendorPanel, each buying organisation has an RSS feed for their Tender page. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a way to subscribe to a source of information, in this case the Tenders page - called a feed, and get brief updates delivered to you.

In general, RSS feeds are a great way for you to follow tenders from specific buyers in your internet browser.

Please note

VendorPanel provides the feed as a service, although we do not support the means of how the feed is read or displayed by you.

Locating the RSS feed

At the top-right of each Tenders page is an RSS feed icon.

Installing a feed reader

Please note

Feed readers are third-party applications which are not supported by VendorPanel.

To read a feed, you require a feed reader. Feed readers can be easily found by simply searching online such as:

  • "rss feed reader"
  • "rss feed reader for chrome"
  • "rss feed reader for edge"

Most applications are add-ons to your browser which pop up notifications whenever the feed is refreshed automatically.

Opening the RSS feed using a reader

  1. Navigate to the tenders page of the organisation or VendorPanel marketplace:
    • For marketplace, visit: www.vendorpanel.com.au/vp/tenders
    • For specific organisations, this is usually in the form of: www.vendorpanel.com.au/<organisation_nickname>/tenders. If you are unsure of the correcnt tenders page address, please reach out to the buying organisation for confirmation. Otherwise, Support can provide you with this information.
  2. Click on the RSS Feed icon located in the top-right hand corner of the screen.
  3. This should then load you into your RSS feed reader.
  4. Ensure that you Follow the feed, which will then create notifications in your browser and app.

Other things to note about RSS feeds:

  • Users are not restricted to how many feeds can be followed. I can follow multiple organisations.
  • RSS feeds are a periodically updating, syndicated content stream. Like email, once you read a topic, you can either dismiss or keep.
  • You do not have to click in the RSS feed link again to get updates! By following the feed, the updates will go straight to your RSS app.

  • Clicking on an update from the feed will take you directly to the tender.

  • You get notified of new items landing on the feed (ie a new tender) automatically.
